Bakerloo and District line both hit by severe delays after earlier Euston disruption

There are severe delays on the Bakerloo and District lines this afternoon.

The issues come after Euston was hit with major disruption due to a signalling fault causing some lines to be blocked.

Lines have now reopened, but National Rail warns services to and from the station may be disrupted or cancelled until at least 5pm.

Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway services are among those affected.

There are also severe delays on the Bakerloo Line between Stonebridge Park and Harrow and Wealdstone while Network Rail fixes a signal failure.

Fire causes delays between Guildford and London Waterloo

A fire next to the track between Effingham Junction and Hinchley Wood is blocking the line towards Surbiton.

Trains are running at a reduced speed on the route to and from Guildford.

Services may be cancelled or delayed. The disruption is expected until 8pm.

Chaos through Birmingham International due to police incident at airport

Lines have reopened following the emergency services dealing with an incident near Birmingham International station.

Birmingham Airport was forced to suspend operations because of a suspicious device found on an Aer Lingus flight to Belfast.

As a result, trains may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 50 minutes or diverted. The disruption is expected to last until 7pm.

Replacement buses are operating between Coventry and Northampton for London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway customers.

Travellers can use their tickets on Avanti West Coast services to London Euston, Chiltern Railways to London Marylebone and East Midlands trains to London St Pancras International.

Clapham Junction: all lines have reopened but delays continue

Following an earlier train fault at Clapham Junction, all lines have reopened towards Wimbledon.

But Network Rail said although services are returning to normal, due to the volume of trains going through Clapham Junction there will still delays and cancellations until 8pm.

“For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point,” a spokesman said.

Fault on a Clapham Junction train blocks lines towards Wimbledon

A train has developed a fault at Clapham Junction meaning some lines towards Wimbledon are blocked.

Services running to and from the south London station will be cancelled or delayed until 7pm.

Network Rail said contact has been made with its fleet maintenance team who are investigating and working towards fixing the fault.

Until further notice, services from London Waterloo towards Wimbledon will not be able to call at Vauxhall or Clapham Junction. The first stop will be Wimbledon.

Chessington South train delays expected until late Tuesday

In an update, Network Rail said delays caused by track failure on the London Waterloo to Chessington South route is “expected until the end of the day”.

Services will become hourly in each direction. South Western Railway have been informed.

London Waterloo to Chessington trains delayed by track failure

A track circuit failure between Motspur Park and Chessington South is causing delays to and from these stations by around 20 minutes.

Trains are running at a reduced speed on the line towards Chessington South until 6pm.

Drivers must come stop at certain signals and receive permission to proceed safely, Network Rail said.

Signal fault causing disruption between Peckham Rye and Tulse Hill

A fault with the signalling system between Peckham Rye and Tulse Hill is causing disruption to services running between these stations.

Trains running between these stations on the route from London Bridge to Beckenham Junction and East Croydon may be delayed by up to 10 minutes. The disruption is expected until 5pm.

Lines reopen at Euston but disruption expected until 5pm

Lines have now reopened following a fault with the signalling system at London Euston.

But National Rail warns trains running to and from the station may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised while services recover.

The disruption – initially hoped to end around 4pm – is now expected to last until 5pm.

London Overground has also reopened after it was part-suspended due to the Euston issues. Severe delays are still affecting Overground services between Euston and Watford Junction.

Euston trains now delayed by up to an hour

Delays at Euston appear to have worsened. Trains to and from the major station this afternoon – those that have not been cancelled – may now be delayed by up to 60 minutes, National Rail warns.

Bakerloo Line part-suspended

The Bakerloo Line has no service between Queens Park and Harrow & Wealdstone due to a signal failure in the Euston area.

A faulty Network rail train at Kilburn High Road is also causing delays.

London Overground reopens with severe delays

The Overground has reopened following a part-closure earlier today, but severe delays are affecting services between between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town / Cheshunt / Chingford, says TFL.

This is following an obstruction on the overhead wires at Wood Street.

There are also minor delays on the Circle and Hammersmith and City lines, but a good service on all other lines.

One driver treated for broken leg following three-vehicle M25 crash

Surrey Police has released details of the crash that shut the M25 and M26 this morning.

A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the clockwise carriageway of the M25 between J5 and J6 shortly after 3am this morning following reports of a three vehicle collision at the location.

“The collision took place between the drivers of a Golf, a Mercedes, and a Mercedes Artic lorry, and one driver was treated for a broken leg.

“There were planned roadworks already taking place that involved closures on the carriageway, but the whole carriageway was closed for a short period of time in order to facilitate vehicle recovery at the scene. This has now been completed.”

No trains between Liverpool Street and Chingford until this afternoon

A tree caught on overhead electric wires between Walthamstow Central and Wood Street means all lines are currently closed.

Trains are not currently able to run between London Liverpool Street and Chingford, and have been cancelled, says National Rail.

No trains are expected to run on this route until at least 2.15pm.

Disruption to Stansted Airport trains now expected until 10.30am

Disruption affecting to and from Stansted Airport this morning is now expected until 10.30am. It was previously expected to last until 9am.

Lines have reopened following a fallen tree that caused damage to overhead electric wires, but National Rail warns trains may still be cancelled or delayed.

Traffic easing on M25 and M26

The M26 has now reopened as well as the M25, according to traffic monitoring system Inrix.

Congestion appears to be easing in the Surrey area, but is still affecting the area around Dartford.

Heavy traffic is also still queuing on the M20, A20 and A2 heading into London.

Heavy traffic is queuing on major arterial roads leading from Kent into London, following this morning’s three-vehicle crash on the M25.

There are “long delays” on the A20 Swanley Bypass, heading towards the capital from where it meets the M20. There are also queues of traffic backing up on the M20, towards the M25.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix warns there are also “long delays” on the London-bound A2, both on the approach to the M25 and after it meets the orbital.

Severe delays on Bakerloo Line

There are severe delays between Stonebridge Park and Harrow and Wealdstone on the Bakerloo Line this morning, due to signal failure.

There are minor delays on the rest of the line due to a shortage of trains.

London Overground part-suspended

There is no London Overground service between Hackney Downs and Chingford this morning, due to an obstruction on the overhead wires at Wood Street.

M25 and M26 closed following crash

A 10-mile stretch of the M25 is closed clockwise south of London this morning due a crash that is thought to involve two cars and a lorry.

There are severe delays. The road is shut clockwise from junction 5 M26 / A21 (Sevenoaks) to junction 6 A22 (Godstone).

Congestion is tailing back to junction 3 M20 Swanley Interchange, down the A21 Link to the A25 at Sevenoaks, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix.

It says the M26 has also been closed westbound from junction 2 at Wrotham, to the M25, following the crash, which happened in the early hours.

In total, around 20 miles of the M25 and M26 are shut.

‘Major disruption’ affecting Stansted Airport and London train services

Major disruption is affecting a number of train services this morning, operating to and from Stansted Airport.

Lines have reopened following fallen tree on the overhead electric wires near Roydon yesterday, but National Rail says trains may still cancelled or delayed until 9am.

Routes affected are:
