The incident further up the tracks â between Coventry and Rugby â has blocked a section of the West Coast Main Line, Network Rail said.
This has affected routes between Euston and Birmingham New Street, including Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway services.
Following the landslip, which happened on Sunday (February 11), Network Rail closed the line in both directions last night to carry out repair work.
By this morning, more than 500 tonnes of soil had been removed, but the line is still not expected to fully reopen until later this afternoon.
Phil Barnes, operations director for Network Rail, said: âNetwork Rail engineers have been removing vegetation from the embankment to allow better assessment of the landslip near Rugby.
âA plan is now in place to remove soil before checking the track to allow services to run.
âTo do this safely, we are closing both lines overnight on Monday and Tuesday morning. We are working to reopen both lines on Tuesday afternoon.
âOur team is working around the clock to get trains running again as soon as we can, and we are sorry for the disruption to journeys this is causing.â

Jonny Wiseman, London Northwestern Railway customer experience director, added: âCustomers travelling between Birmingham New Street and London Euston on Tuesday should continue to check their journeys before setting out and consider using alternative routes if possible.â
