Male pedestrian dies after being hit by lorry on A40 in west London

A man has died after being hit by a lorry in Park Royal, west London, on the A40.

The pedestrian was knocked down on Western Avenue at roughly 4.15pm and died at the scene despite the efforts of London Ambulance Service and the air ambulance.

The Metropolitan Police is now looking into the incident which led to long delays along the section which was blocked for hours by emergency services.

A spokesperson for the Met said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at about 4.15pm on Thursday, April 11 to reports of a collision involving a lorry and pedestrian on the Western Avenue, W3.

“Officers and London’s Air Ambulance attended. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the male pedestrian died at the scene.”

Road closures were in place around the area after the incident while bus routes around the area were also diverted.

London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4:13 yesterday afternoon (April 11) to reports of a road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a lorry on Western Avenue, W3.

“We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, and an incident response officer. We also dispatched a team from London’s Air Ambulance.

“Our first paramedics were on the scene in under three minutes.

“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
