Of course, one of the guaranteed highlights of any season is the bragging rights that come with taking on your traditional rivals.
This season’s North-London derby in April is primed to be no less of a season-defining game than any other. Fans looking to acquire tickets that are both listed by approved ticket specialists. Fans want specialists who are willing to compete with one another to provide you with the lowest prices & the largest selection on the internet. After all, competition to get the best seats in England’s top flight has never been greater.
The rivalry between these two sides is beyond fierce, and the match-day atmosphere is second to none. I’ve been to some lively games in different parts of the world, and Spurs versus Arsenal is right up there simply because of what is at stake between the two sets of fans. The match day vibe is like no other, for me.
This is a rivalry that dates back over 100 years when Arsenal left Plumstead and moved to Highbury, North London in 1913. Spurs were naturally unwelcoming to the idea of a side springing up just four miles away.
Then there is St Totteringham’s Day, where Arsenal fans created a tongue-in-cheek day of celebration for when it is mathematically impossible for Tottenham to finish above them in the league. This completely unofficial day is a menace to Tottenham fans, as it provides the Gunners with a ready excuse to lord it over their rivals.
Both sides have enjoyed great success in English football. In terms of silverware, Arsenal edge it. The Gunners have more league titles than us – thirteen to our two. Arsenal also have more FA Cup wins (14) than Spurs (8). The League Cup is a different matter – Spurs’ most recent triumph in a competition was their last piece of silverware. It came in 2008 and represented their fourth League Cup win. Arsenal only have two. Tottenham hasn’t won anything since picking up a League Cup in 2008 – another reason for fun-poking.
Arsenal and Spurs have actually exchanged players a few times in recent years, with mixed results, infamously Sol Campbell became a figure of hate among Tottenham supporters for leaving us on-a-free, after saying that he would stay. More success was enjoyed when William Gallas moved to N17 where he had three memorable years in the Lilywhite.
