The strength in depth of the Mail’s outstanding journalism has been recognised once again – this time by judges at the London Press Club Awards.
The paper has been shortlisted for Daily Newspaper of the Year and, alongside our sister title The Mail on Sunday, is in the running for more top honours than any other title.
A series of jaw-dropping scoops by award-winning reporter Stephen Wright, including a fearless investigation into Albanian drug barons, earned him a nomination in the prestigious Journalist of the Year category.
The Mail on Sunday’s Ian Birrell was nominated in the same category for his courageous reports from Ukraine and ground-breaking articles on the origins of Covid 19.
Katie Hind’s exclusives on Phillip Schofield earned her a well-deserved nod in the Scoop of the Year category while the Mail’s Riath Al-Samarrai was one of only four journalists from across the industry to be shortlisted for Sports Journalist of the Year.

Northern Correspondent Liz Hull and Caroline Cheetham’s pioneering podcast, the Trial of Lucy Letby, has put them in the running for Multimedia Journalist of the Year.
The widely acclaimed series was the first to follow in forensic detail a running jury trial as it progressed and has had more than ten million downloads to date.
Sabrina Miller was shortlisted in the Young Journalist category for a string of scoops, including the devastating undercover expose of a vegan mob’s plot to sabotage the Grand National which led to 118 arrests and ultimately saved the race.
Chairman of the judges, broadcaster Nick Ferrari, hailed the outstanding quality of the entries which he said ‘packed as big a punch as Tyson Fury’ and demonstrate that ‘without a shred of doubt the British Press is the most professional, robust and best on the planet’.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on October 17.
