Driver killed when van, truck collide in west London: Police

One person is dead following a crash in the city’s west end Monday afternoon, London police said.

Police and emergency crews responded to a serious crash involving a van and truck near Oxford Street West and Woodhull Road at about 1:40 p.m. The driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene, London police said in a news release Monday afternoon.

Members of the London police traffic management unit are investigating the crash.

Police did not release any further details about the crash, including the number of vehicles involved or the identity of the deceased.

A motorcyclist is dead after a weekend crash in the city’s east end, London police say.

Police, firefighters and paramedics responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and car near Oxford and Wethered streets, just west of Highbury Avenue, at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The motorcyclist later died in hospital.

The driver of the car remained on scene, London police said in a news release Monday.

A photo posted to social media by the London fire department over the weekend showed a motorcycle stuck under the car’s rear end.

The roads were temporarily closed while officers investigated the crash, police said.

The identity of the deceased has not been released by police.

Investigators ask anyone who was in the area between 5:20 to 5:35 p.m. on Saturday with dash-cam or security camera footage to contact London police (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Fatal crash on Highway 403 in Brant County

One person was killed when three vehicles collided Saturday on Highway 403 east of Brantford, Brant OPP said.

Two passenger vehicles and a transport truck were involved in the crash at about 9:30 a.m. between Rest Acres and Middle Townline roads.

A 33-year-old from Milton died at the scene, police said.

Four other people in the passenger vehicles suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital. The driver of the transport truck was not injured, police said.

The westbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours as police investigated the crash.
