The South London Community Resource Centre is proud to announce its celebration of International Women’s Day on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The event promises to be a vibrant showcase of culture, food, traditional costumes, and music from around the globe, providing a platform for immigrant and Canadian women in London to come together in celebration and solidarity.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This year, the South London Community Resource Centre is taking this celebration to new heights by inviting women of all ages, starting from 11 years old, to join in the festivities.

The event will feature a diverse array of activities and experiences, including:

    • Cultural displays: Immigrant and Canadian women will have the opportunity to showcase their rich cultural heritage through displays of traditional artifacts, clothing, and artwork.
    • Culinary delights: Attendees will indulge in a culinary journey around the world, sampling delicious dishes prepared by women from various cultural backgrounds.
    • Fashion show: A colourful and dynamic fashion show will highlight traditional costumes and attire from different countries, celebrating the beauty and diversity of women’s clothing traditions.
    • Musical performances: Live music from different cultures will set the mood for the evening, with performances ranging from traditional folk songs to contemporary tunes.
    • Interactive workshops: Engaging workshops on topics such as women’s empowerment, cultural exchange, and community building will offer participants the chance to learn, connect, and inspire one another.

The South London Community Resource Centre extends a warm invitation to all women in London to join in this special celebration of International Women’s Day. Together, let us honour women’s contributions to society, celebrate our diversity, and continue working towards a more equitable and inclusive world.
