South London U14s reach English National final – South London News

South London’s U14 team have qualified for the English Schools National final – last achieving the feat 12 years ago.

The side recently travelled to Aldershot & Farnborough to play a semi-final which turned out to be one of the most exciting school matches for many years, writes Stephen Underwood.

Aldershot & Farnborough scored an early goal but this only seemed to inspire South London, who equalised midway through the half.

Abraham Kamara went on a mazy run down the left and his cross was tapped in by Sonny Card to make it 1-1 at half time.

Aldershot & Farnborough were first to strike in the second half. A brilliant one-on-one save by goalkeeper William Moyseowicz looped the ball into the air and was headed in

South London levelled again with a minute to go. Ayomide Adebanjo crossed the ball for Nayan Sesay to calmly finish.

Aldershot & Farnborough took the lead again in extra time only for South London to once again respond. Otis Jones’ corner was met by Ayomide Adebanjo at the back post. He blasted the ball past the keeper to make it 3-3.

In the second half of extra-time South London took the lead for the first time. A brilliant solo run by Jordon Yeboah beat two defenders on a brilliant solo run to score.

Aldershot & Farnborough quickly scored to make it 4-4.

With just more than a minute to go Yeboah picked up the ball in midfield, again beat two defenders and played a lovely one-two on the edge of the box with Otis Jones and scored to make it 5-4.

Yeboah was man of the match.
