London weather: What to expect for the bank holiday weekend

The August bank holiday is the final chance for many to take a nice relaxing getaway and soak in the warm weather. 

But ahead of the weekend, you might want to check what weather to expect so you’re prepared. 

The past summer has seen mixed forecasts, with weeks of rain followed by short bursts of heat and some thunderstorms too.

If you are heading out this weekend, you may need to bring an umbrella as a precaution, as Saturday, August 26 will see wet weather in the afternoon with a 60% chance of precipitation from 1pm until 7pm.

Whilst Saturday will be wet, it will also be warm with 19C expected and very little wind. 

Sunday, August 27 shows similar weather but with no signs of rain. Although it will be dry, clouds are also expected. 

Keeping with the warm weather, temperatures will settle at peaks of 20C with winds as low as 6mph. 

The day of the bank holiday, Monday, August 28 will have positive weather, seeing highs of 21C.

Monday is expected to be sunny with some clouds but dry throughout the day and very little wind again.

Discussing the upcoming weekend’s weather, a Met Office forecaster shared: “Sunshine and showers Saturday.

“Showers turning slow-moving, heavy, and potentially thundery at times.

“Increasingly cloudy Sunday with patchy rain. Variable cloud and a few showers on Monday. Temperatures near average.”
