Man stabbed to death at Strawberry Hill station in south-west London

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Blackburn, of the British Transport Police, said: “This is a senseless act of violence, which has seen the tragic death of a young man.

“This investigation remains in the early stages, and the station will remain closed while we continue our enquiries.”

Two men, aged 19 and 20, and two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been arrested in connection with the man’s death and remain in custody.

One of the teenage suspects, the 16-year-old boy, was found with a leg injury in a nearby cul-de-sac after Metropolitan Police officers were called to reports of a stabbing.

Detectives from Scotland Yard and the British Transport Police have confirmed both incidents are being treated as linked.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “A 16-year-old boy was found with a laceration to his leg. His condition is not being treated as life-threatening.

“A short time earlier, police had been alerted to a stabbing at Strawberry Hill BR Station. A man in his 20s was found injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“At this time, the incidents are being treated as linked. British Transport Police will investigate the murder. Officers from the Met will support.”

Strawberry Hill station remained closed on Tuesday as extra police patrols were deployed to the area in the afternoon and evening to help reassure local residents.

South Western Railway said all lines between Twickenham and Teddington were blocked, which will disrupt services between London Waterloo, Shepperton and Kingston throughout the day.
