New affordable apartments set to launch at West London ‘regeneration hotspot’

A West London ‘regeneration hotspot’ will see its affordable housing stock boosted this new year with the launch of Abri Homes’ shared ownership apartments.

The new scheme at Horlicks Quarter is set to provide 75 one and two-bedroom apartments. Located only half a mile from Slough train station and the Elizabeth Line which offers services into London in under 20 minutes, Horlicks Quarter is ideally placed for those looking to commute into the capital.

Offering its residents access to a range of on-site amenities including a concierge service, cinema room, gym, rooftop garden and co-working space, the award-winning development is bringing London-style living to Slough.

With a strong demand from people wanting to live closer to West London, but looking for more property for their deposit, the apartments at Horlicks Quarter will be available through shared ownership with a minimum share purchase of 10 per cent, and only a five per cent deposit required.

Stuart Hensby, Sales & Marketing Director at Abri, commented: “The impact of the current challenges in mortgage rates on first time buyers is a familiar topic to many. Those looking to get on the housing ladder in London and the South East have been affected the most at a time when rents are also increasing.

“This is where shared ownership has stepped in and helped make homeownership a real possibility for aspirational homeowners. Consequently, commuter hotspots including Slough are witnessing huge growth, especially as people are returning to the office and travelling more for work.”

With travel links to the north and south, plenty of open space and places such as Windsor Castle and Great Park right on its doorstep, Slough offers a “brilliant work/life balance”. Abri’s shared ownership at Horlicks Quarter adds to this locality by offering high-quality apartments and amenities.

Stuart added: “Shared ownership offers a clear pathway to progress into the housing market. Over time, buyers can gradually step up to full ownership, meaning that they are investing in their own future, as opposed to their landlords.”

Providing contemporary living in a “historic landmark location”, the 75 apartments being offered by Abri are located at the heart of Horlicks Quarter, close to the old Horlicks Factory clocktower and landscaped gardens.

Abri’s shared ownership of high specification one or two-bedroom apartments at Aquifer House in Horlicks Quarter will be launched in January, with estimated build completion from late Autumn 2024.
