L’oscar London, a luxurious five-star hotel right in the heart of Holborn, has launched their new afternoon tea inspired by the historical grade II*-building that was once the headquarters of the Baptist Church. In true tradition, guests can expect delicious savoury sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and chapel-shaped cakes, all which are accompanied by ‘world’s most awarded’ luxury tea brand, Newby.

The afternoon tea features a selection of savoury and dainty sandwiches including pastrami and cheddar cheese, egg mimosa and black truffle, and smoked Scottish salmon filled with lemon cream cheese too. Add in freshly-baked scones – served with classic clotted cream and homemade raspberry jam – and flutes of Michel Reybier Champagne and you’ve got yourself a real winner here.

This sumptuous new experience blends the essentials of a traditional afternoon tea with elements of Japanese culture for a new Nobu take on the British tradition. With its close proximity to the cultural powerhouses of the Exhibition Road museums, The Ampersand Hotel’s highly revered afternoon tea series has historically always taken inspiration from its neighbourhood, as seen in both its Science- and Jurassic-themed afternoon teas. The Stafford London, renowned for its timeless elegance and exceptional hospitality, has recently launched a sophisticated new afternoon tea on July 31. The afternoon tea is going to be served from a brand-new bespoke cake trolley for an added sense of theatre and occasion, allowing you the chance to chooses your preferred cakes and pastries. The new recipes have been created collaboratively by Magdalena Velczenbach, The Stafford’s Head Pastry Chef, and Lisa Goodwin-Allen, the Executive Chef of the Michelin-starred Northcote in Lancashire.

To start, sandwiches and scones will be served on a traditional cake stand, alongside coffee or a selection of fine teas from the prestigious Camelia’s Tea House. Delicate finger sandwiches will include H. Forman & Son smoked salmon with horseradish crème fraîche on granary bread and honey roasted ham and mustard mayonnaise on onion bread, alongside a truffle egg bun. Plain and fruit scones will be served with whipped clotted cream and strawberry jam, alongside a savoury delight – a Westcombe cheddar scone with soft cheese and chives. 26. The Enchanted Afternoon Tea at the Georgian House Hotel

The perfect match to an overnight stay in The Wizard Chambers at The Georgian Hotel is a spellbinding afternoon tea and the potion-making experience. Taking place every weekend, the Enchanted Afternoon Tea offers a range of tantalising treats. Across three tiers, there are inside out sandwiches, lightening bolt scones, and beastly bakewells, served in an open bird owl cage. The whole thing starts with a fantastic florish of dry ice in a cauldron, which I loved so much, I asked if we could do again. You even get a little witches’ hat while you eat. Fun right?

Alongside the sweet and savoury treats, guests can try their hand at a potion-making experience. Using specialist ingredients like Goblin Goo, Curious Caviar, peaflower syrup, Werewolf Fur, and Unicorn Tears, you can concoct two cocktails or mocktails. You are given instructions just as you’d expect from Potions class, delivered on a scroll. The potion-making experience is an additional £25 for cocktails (or £20 for mocktails); or you can opt for bottomless bubbles for £20pp instead.

Tipple Tea is Rockwell’s much-loved afternoon tea for cocktail lovers. It features a decadent array of seasonal sweets and savouries, paired beautifully with a choice of expertly crafted cocktails. Dishes range from savoury bites such as the artichoke, ham and truffle on sourdough through to the sweet salted caramel canelé with blackberry. All of these are paired with expert cocktails such as the Earl Grey inspired ‘Victoria’ and the ‘Spring Gardens’  – a heavenly concoction of butterfly pea and lavender.

Perhaps our favourite though is the ‘Miranda’ which draws inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s ‘In The Orchard’. The cocktail combines freshly pressed Bramley apple juice along with the subtle notes of mint, sage and gentian from green Chartreuse.

Covent Garden brasserie Balthazar, is delighted to announce the arrival of its delightful, new afternoon tea experience, ‘A Taste of Balthazar’. Available now, the new afternoon tea menu brings together an exquisite array of flavours through savoury and sweet delights, allowing guests to enjoy the epitome of Parisian indulgence.

Available Monday to Friday from 2-4ppm, diners can delight in a refreshing French 75 cocktail incorporating gin, Champagne, lemon juice and sugar, before indulging in an elegant array of French favourites. Food comes in the form of dressed crab with zesty herb mayonnaise, the Balthazar ‘mini hamburger’, a tarragon-poached chicken sandwich with truffle mayonnaise, and a comté cheese and ham croissant.

With no afternoon tea complete without a selection of sweet delights, guests can then enjoy a delectable selection of desserts including ‘Paris brest’ – a delicious choux pastry filled with luscious praline cream – as well as the ‘gateau opera’ an exquisite blend of coffee-soaked sponge layered with ganache and coffee French buttercream.

Celebrate Afternoon Tea Week in The Beaumont Hotel’s sophisticated Gatsby’s Room, with a transatlantic-inspired summer tea from Head Chef Ben Boeynaems. The summer tea showcases Head Chef Ben Boeynaems’s transatlantic twist on a classic British tradition, inspired by iconic staples from across the pond.

Guests can expect an amuse bouche and sandwiches served on soft bread baked fresh by the Beaumont’s in-house baker, including devilled egg with cacklebean farm egg, biber chilli and kimchi; a caesar salad with smoked chicken caesar and aged parmesan, cured lox with citrus cured salmon, fennel, yoghurt and mint and a Philly cheesesteak, comprising Hereford beef, caramelised onions and ogleshield cheese.

Sandwiches are closely followed by freshly baked scones served with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry preserve, alongside sweet treats including peach and amaretto baba, a strawberry and coconut mousse, a hazelnut and chocolate tartlet with toasted meringue, a black forest cherry, vanilla and black pepper éclair and a marshmallow-to-go from the hotel’s new ‘marshmallow trolley’. Plus, for the month of August, they’re offering a complimentary glass of Champagne. The hotel also won an Award of Excellence at the Afternoon Tea Awards this year.Winner, winner.

This ‘pawsome’ (sorry) and dog-friendly experience has everything your furry friend could dream of with a four-course selection of treats,  free-flowing water and even ‘puppuccinos’ (with lactose-free milk) too! Treats here include a lamb liver and veggie stew, a banana ‘woofin’, a carrot ‘pupcake’ and a peanut butter and oats cookie – now what pooch isn’t gonna love that hey?!

And if your fluffy friend is still feeling hungry, Jack and Beyond also sell dog ice cream all year round, as well as delicious treats for us humans too. Set only a five minute walk from Battersea Park, the café is perfectly situated to go and burn off some energy before or after the experience on a lovely dog walk.
