The Metropolitan Police have confirmed they have arrested a nine people after a banner with the wording “Globalize The Intifada” was draped from the front of a building in north London.
Photographs of the giant banner hanging from the building in Park Square near Regent’s Park, were shared across social media prompting calls for the police to take action.
The Metropolitan Police said the building, a large Georgian terrace, was being used by squatters but had now been secured.

Police said the arrests had been carried out under section 18 of the Public Order Act, which prohibits the display of “any written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting” if the intention or likely consequence is to stir up racial hatred.
They said the banner had been removed and they would maintain a presence in the area to respond to “any further incidents”.
On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police issued a statement stating:”Officers have removed the banner from the building in Park Square near Regent’s Park. A number of people have been arrested. “We remain at the scene and will share further details later.”
Dave Rich, the Community Security Trust’s director of policy, was among those to praise the police for taking swift action.
He wrote on his personal account on X/Twitter:”Swift, forceful action, an inflammatory banner removed and arrests made – exactly how it should be.”
