Armed police rush to school as knifeman launches horror attack | UK | News

NewVIc has said the boys who were found stabbed are “safe and well” a day after police were called to the incident in Plaistow, east London.

The college’s Acting Principal and CEO, Susanne Davies, said: “We understand the worry and upset that these sorts of incidents will cause among students and staff and I would like to reassure students, staff and members of our local community we are working closely with the police who are investigating the matter.

“Support is in place for anyone who needs it. We are also offering similar support to students.”

A NewVIc college spokesperson said: “On Monday, October 16, we responded to an incident which occurred on Prince Regent Lane, involving two of our students and an external group.

“The incident resulted in two of the persons involved receiving treatment in hospital. Thankfully, they are both recovering and are safe and well.

“The emergency services were called and responded quickly to the incident. Students were asked to remain in their classes or on campus until the situation had been dealt with.

“We take the safety and security of our students and our staff extremely seriously. Our priority is always to ensure that the college is a safe place for learning.”

The spokesperson added that the college remains open today (October 17), saying: “We have robust levels of security on site and we will take steps to ensure that remains the case. Staff are regularly patrolling the campus for further reassurance.”
