Chilling CCTV footage shows moments before man was stabbed to death in front of mum in South London restaurant

Chilling CCTV footage appears to show two men talking in an alleyway before a man was stabbed to death in his Elephant and Castle restaurant in front of his own mum. Ian Gualavisi, 23, was brutally knifed down in front of diners in popular Ecuadorian restaurant Rincon Costeno around 7.30pm on December 14, 2021.

Previously Ian’s mum Rocio opened up to MyLondon and described her son’s last moments, remembering his killer storming through the doors and stabbing him in the back. She says after that her memory goes blank.

CCTV footage taken moments before the brutal attack took place shows two men in black motorcycle helmets standing outside the restaurant, appearing to talk to each other. One of the men, dressed in a fluorescent jacket gestures his arm in the direction of the restaurant.

Then he can be seen suddenly reaching into his waistband and pulling out an object before running off camera towards the restaurant.

As soon as Ian’s dad Segundo heard about the bloodbath he rushed back from nearby East Street Market and held his son as he died in his arms.

Segundo said the tight knit South American community has been “broken” by his son’s death and is calling for people to “speak up” to help the police investigation.

Speaking to MyLondon at his funeral, Ian’s mum Rocio added: “We just want justice. We want to find whoever did this and bring them to justice.”

Hundreds gathered to respect Ian as he was laid to rest in February and lined the streets holding pictures of Ian in emotional scenes.

Two men, both aged 24, arrested on December 15 and 16 on suspicion of murder, have been released on bail.

I love London because you’ve never seen it all. Also – all the food.
