The South London restaurant that Londoners travel miles for with the ‘best naan bread you’ve ever tasted’

With thousands of places to eat in the UK’s Capital, it can be hard to choose where to prioritise first for foodie adventures.

Sometimes, food and drink reviews can be unreliable. One bad day can ruin a whole experience.

But, if every review seems to rave about the exact same thing? That’s usually a good indicator that you’re at the right spot.

And for one Indian restaurant in South London, the rave reviews never seem to stop pouring in.

The Indian Room in Balham has just over 1,597 reviews on TripAdvisor, and 1,381 of them give the restaurant ‘excellent’, or five stars.

Not bad for a place which only opened in 2007.

One reviewer, who visited the restaurant in August, titled their review simply ‘Best Pashwari Naan in town’.

They wrote: “I had a lovely meal at lunchtime. The staff were very friendly, food was fantastic and came very quickly.

“Whenever I have an Indian I have a Peshwari Naan and this is the best one I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.”

Indian Room has a five-star hygiene rating and serves up a vast menu of authentic Indian cuisine including the classics of Jalfrezi, Rogan Josh and Biryani, as well as what they seem to be most famous for – their fresh naan bread.

Another reviewer said: “Friendly staff. Banging curry’s. Onion Bhaji was beaut… and the Naan bread was the best I’ve ever tasted!! In the words of the Terminator ‘I’ll be back’.”

“BEST NAAN BREADS IN LONDON,” another recent review is titled. The reviewer continued: “Literally the best naan breads I’ve ever eaten at an Indian restaurant, fresh, fluffy, can recommend the garlic or the peshwari ones.

“Some of the friendliest staff, who pay attention to every detail and the names of regular customers.

“Overall such a nice experience and after everything that’s gone on, this place should be booming again so please give these guys a visit, you won’t regret it!!!”.

In fact, in the last week alone, there have been over 10 reviews of the restaurant on the site – and every one of them five stars.

No surprise, then, that Indian Room is rated number 2 in the whole of London on TripAdvisor.

But, if you’re a South Londoner who won’t make it down to Balham this week, fear not. Indian Room delivers to Balham, Stratham, Tooting, Norbury and Brixton.

And even if you’re further across the pond, that’s no excuse according to reviewers – one said, “I travel from Camden to come to this place and yes its banging,” while another wrote, “We travel from Beckenham to dine here as nothing locally tastes anywhere near as good.”
