WW2 bomb detonates in east London in ‘controlled’ explosion

WW2 bomb exploded on Friday morning in a “managed detonation” police have stated.

Officers have been known as to Chequers Lane, Dagenham at 10.01am to reviews of WWII ordnance discovered.

Cordons have been put in place and a managed explosion came about.

Following the detonation, Barking & Dagenham Police tweeted: “If any residents in Barking and Dagenham simply heard an explosion, please don’t be alarmed,” Barking & Dagenham Police tweeted.

“It was a managed detonation of WW2 ordnance.  Cordons will stay in place for some time longer.”

The Metropolitan Police advised the Standard that the ordnance has now been eliminated by specialist officers and the cordons have additionally been eliminated.
