Firefighters find suspected weed farm at Ilford flat

Firefighters known as to a hearth in Ilford found a suspected hashish farm.

Crews from London Fire Brigade have been known as to the fireplace inside a flat above a store in Woodford Avenue.

Six hearth engines and round 40 firefighters rushed to the scene of the fireplace at 2.49am.

Station Officer Steve McDermott, who was at the scene, stated: “There have been flames coming from the highest of the roof as crews arrived at the scene.

“Firefighters confronted difficult and smoky circumstances contained in the property as they labored swiftly to cease the fireplace from spreading to neighbouring flats and outlets both facet.

“Cannabis manufacturing unit fires may be significantly harmful due to the way in which criminals use unsafe wiring to illegally get hold of electrical energy in an effort to develop the crops.

“They’re typically in prime flooring or lofts which suggests when a hearth takes maintain it spreads, destroying roofs and damaging neighbouring buildings.

“Firefighters can be uncovered to dangers when coping with the fires due to dangerous wiring and traps at a few of the properties.

Half of the second flooring of the constructing and half of the roof have been broken by hearth. There have been no studies of any accidents.

The hearth was beneath management by 4.11am and the trigger is beneath investigation by the brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
