Covid-19: Tributes to those we lost from east London

More than 140,000 have died within the UK after testing constructive for Covid-19.

There have been greater than 2,000 deaths linked to the virus in Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets.

The following tributes and testimonies have been despatched to us by the household or buddies of a few of those who we have lost.

The tributes are listed in alphabetical order.

Maria Cheeseman died on September 22, 2020 after testing constructive for Covid-19.

“Maria was a long-time resident of Tower Hamlets and had been residing at Edith Ramsay House in Stepney prior to her dying.

Maria had bodily and psychological disabilities following a critical accident earlier in her life. She had battled and overcome homelessness and alcoholism throughout a most troublesome time.

She turned her life round and have become a salvationist with the Salvation Army at each Stepney and Poplar Corps.

Maria was additionally proud to have been a volunteer Games Maker within the Olympics on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park venue. She had been an lively campaigner for the National Living Wage.

She was happiest when she was in a position to elevate funds and donate to numerous charitable causes. Maria was an avid Elvis Presley fan and had visited Graceland in America.”

“He was married to my mum June for 27 years and so they have been one another’s soulmates. He was one of the best dad I may have ever requested for and I was a real daddy’s woman. He was dad to me and my two brothers and was a grandad to 4 and sadly did not get the possibility to meet his fifth who’s arriving any day now. He was at all times prepared to assist others and was by no means afraid to get his fingers soiled. He is sorely missed by me and my household and his buddies.”

“In December 2020, Ivor had briefly been in hospital due to poor well being and had sadly been separated from his spouse Lorna for over two months as she had been severely in poor health in hospital. 

Thankfully, they each managed to spend just a few days collectively out of hospital over the Christmas interval, earlier than sadly he was taken again to hospital having contracted Covid-19.

Ivor was firstly a son and brother earlier than marrying Lorna in 1952 the place he devoted his life to being a loving husband.  He was a caring dad, supportive uncle, wonderful grandad and doting grampy to his six great-grandchildren.

He was the life and soul of the social gathering along with his spectacular dance strikes.  He cherished a chat with anybody and had many grandad/grampy jokes up his sleeve.

He was a real gentleman, variety, beneficiant, and he had love for everybody. He can be tremendously missed however cherished at all times.”

“Born in Lonert, Kerry, Bridget moved to Surrey on the younger age of 16, then settled in Dagenham together with her three kids, Theresa, Tony and Caroline. Bridget had six grandchildren, Joshua Kofkin, Jasper Kofkin, Eliott Kofkin, Charlotte Cleaver, Lucas Cleaver and Jacob Cleaver.

Bridget labored within the Milhouse Social Club, Broad Street Working Men’s. She was a barmaid for a few years and was very cherished.

Bridget’s household adored her simply as mum adored her household. God bless mum. Love you without end as at all times. Theresa sends her pumfy all her love.”

“Our mom was born in Trinidad and Tobago in 1950 and moved to London when she was 18 years previous. She devoted her life and profession as an NHS nurse for 42 years at King George and Whipps Cross hospitals.

She was cherished dearly by her three kids Asifa, Nadeem and Shaheen, and 5 grandchildren, Amber, Laith, Aydan, Kai and Noah.

Salma was most happiest at her allotment in Seven Kings, the place she had many buddies and loved countless days having fun with her passion of planting and rising greens and flowers to share together with her family members. We will miss and keep in mind her at all times.”

“He was a sort revered man. He was in hospital just a few instances the 12 months earlier than due to having ulcers on his legs and the heel of his foot. 

When he was admitted they took him to resus. I used to be not allowed there. I may solely ring the hospital.

On Saturday afternoon they rang me to say his lungs have been lined in pneumonia and there was nothing they might do anymore. Basically, he is going to die.

“Mohsan was vigorous. He would welcome and greet everybody. No matter what your occupation is and age, he would deal with everybody with the identical love, respect and smile. 

He was certainly one of those people who would make you smile along with his presence and make you snicker along with his jokes. A contented and joyful man, a faithful father, a loving husband and an especially loving brother. 

He would at all times put within the effort to meet everybody and stay life to the fullest. His absence is felt and we all pray to be reunited with him within the gardens of heaven.

He was a humorous, variety, beneficiant, household man, very educated and a real gentleman who adored his household.
