Digital Realty, a provider of data center solutions, announced the acquisition of a colocation data center in the Slough Trading Estate for $200 million.
The acquisition marks Digital Realty’s entry into the west London submarket and complements existing colocation capabilities in the City and Docklands.
The campus features two data centers with a combined capacity of 15-megawatts (MW). The Slough data center campus is an established hub for a community of 150+ customers, including an array of connectivity providers, technology companies, and financial services firms, utilizing over 2,000 cross connects.
The new campus will be integrated into Digital Realty’s Metro Connect solution for ensuring connectivity between its six campuses in Greater London. Data center customers will also benefit from access to ServiceFabric, Digital Realty’s open interconnection and orchestration platform.
“As the UK solidifies its position as Europe’s premier technology hub, this acquisition enhances our ability to support customers as they grow and scale, further establishing our presence in this vital market,” Seamus Dunne, Managing Director, Digital Realty in the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland, said.
