His appearance came just hours after one of the accused in the firing case, allegedly died by suicide. Salman found himself in the middle of this controversy when family members of the deceased accused the police of ‘killing’ Anuj Thapan, one of the accused in the ongoing case. Reports allege that the man, accused of supplying guns to the two shooters, was found hanging from the toilet window, with a piece of bedsheet around his neck. He reportedly died in the toilet of the first-floor lock-up, located in the crime branch building inside the police commissioner’s office compound in South Mumbai, an official revealed to PTI.

When he was rushed to the nearby state-run Gokuldas Tejpal hospital, he was declared dead during treatment. The state’s CID has taken over the probe into Thapan’s custodial death and will investigate whether there was any negligence on the part of crime branch officials.

Later in the evening, Thapan’s body was sent to the J J Hospital for a postmortem, to be conducted by forensic doctors in the presence of a magistrate, while an accidental death case was registered at Azad Maidan police station. A senior police official told PTI that there were five police personnel posted at the crime branch lockup, and as per the high court guidelines, CCTV cameras are also installed inside. “After examining the CCTV footage, we will find out what exactly happened,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a statement to ANI, the Sarpanch of Thapan’s village, demanded that the post-mortem of the body should be done outside Mumbai. “The family is demanding justice. His post-mortem should be done outside this state because Salman Khan has influence in Mumbai,” Godara said.

He further alleged foul play was involved in the death. He said to ANI, “On one side is superstar Salman Khan and on the other side are the labourers. Under pressure, they have killed him and framed it as a suicide.”
Meanwhile, Salman, who has been going about fulfilling his work commitments, met UK Member of Parliament for Brent North constituency, Barry Gardiner at the iconic Wembley Stadium during his London visit.
On the work front, the actor is expected to soon begin work on his next film ‘Sikandar’, directed by AR Murugadoss.
