London Overground Hackney to Chingford works: Meet the manager events

Services will not run for more than two weeks while a bridge is replaced.

This disruption to the rail service will take place between Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, August 4.

Six stations including Clapton, St James Street, Walthamstow Central, Wood Street, Highams Park and Chingford will not have any rail service.

As well as London Overground, Greater Anglia services normally running between Liverpool Street and Hertford East will start and finish at Stratford.

Services from Liverpool Street to Cambridge and Stansted Airport will also be rerouted, stopping at Seven Sisters instead of Tottenham Hale.

Bishop’s Stortford to Stratford services will not operate, with passengers advised to find alternatives.

This major disruption is the result of a replacement of a 150-year-old bridge south of Hackney Downs Park.

The deteriorating condition of the bridge led to the decision to replace it for the safety of passengers and road users.

Alongside the bridge replacement, Network Rail will conduct maintenance at various sites along the route.

Tasks include work on overhead lines, points and drainage systems, and improving the condition of the tracks’ ballast.

Rail replacement buses will run between Hackney Downs and Chingford every 20 minutes over the 16 days, calling at all stations.

The Victoria line will continue to operate between Walthamstow Central and central London throughout the period.

Local buses running across the affected London Overground line will be available, including routes 97, 212, 230 and 275.

Bethnal Green and Hackney Downs stations will be served by London Overground services to Enfield Town and Cheshunt.

Those using the Enfield Town and Cheshunt Overground lines should also check their journey, as there will be a different timetable on these routes over the 16 days.

Passengers are invited to meet railway managers at a series of events to understand how their travel plans will be impacted.

Representatives from London Overground, Greater Anglia and Network Rail will answer questions and provide travel information.

Meet the manager events will be held at Hackney Downs station, Liverpool Street, and Chingford station.

Preparatory and follow-up works will again affect train services on June 23, July 13 and 14, August 17 and 18, and September 1 and 8.
