Major blaze in north London after 500 tonnes of waste goes up in flames | World News

Ten fire engines and about 70 firefighters have successfully brought a fire under control at a waste recycling centre in north London, according to a report by BBC.

In the wee hours of Thursday, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to Nobel Road, Edmonton, where they found 500 tonnes of mixed waste ablaze.

Fire crews from Edmonton, Enfield, Chingford, and other surrounding stations were rushed to the scene.

Due to the significant amount of smoke produced by the fire, residents in the local area have been advised to keep their doors and windows shut. The LFB utilised its drone team to obtain an aerial view of the fire and drew water from a nearby brook to combat the blaze.

In the wake of the incident, Nobel Road is closed between Thornton Road and Kynoch Road, and traffic along the A1055 is likely to be affected, the LFB added.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
