Charlton Athletic ownership group have ‘no thoughts’ of selling amid rumours of Massimo Cellino interest – South London News

Charlton Athletic’s owners have absolutely no intention of selling the League One club amid reports that former Leeds chief Massimo Cellino is weighing up a move for it.

Cellino is the owner of Brescia in Serie B and at least one Italian media outlet claims he is sizing up selling, with the Addicks in his sights as the next team he will acquire.

Sardinian-born Cellino initially sold 50 per cent of his stake in Leeds to fellow Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani at the start of 2017. Radrizzani bought the other 50 per cent in July. Cellino posted a parting statement saying  “if you can survive working with me, you can survive anything”.

Global Football Partners bought Charlton off Thomas Sandgaard in July.

Charlie Methven, on behalf of GFP , told the South London Press: “Charlton Athletic is a fantastic club and will always attract interest from players, managers and even people who ultimately might want to own the club.

“Our ownership group, Global Football Partners, are intensely proud and happy to be the owners of the club and any thoughts of selling it couldn’t be any further from our minds.

“As such, we note the speculation with a wry smile and – whilst being respectful of any interest which is either lodged with us, or speculated about – we are simply 100 per cent happy and proud to be the custodians of Charlton Athletic for the medium to long term.”

Everyone at the South London Press thanks you for your continued support.
