‘Why would you leave?’ – Paul Ince thinks Spurs man will stay in North London for now – The Spurs Web

Paul Ince has suggested that Ange Postecoglou might be the right candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool but opined that the Australian is unlikely to leave Tottenham this summer.

While Tottenham may not have delivered on the promise that they showed at the start of the season, having struggled with some inconsistency off late, there is no doubt that this season has been a successful one for Postecoglou.

He walked into Hotspur Way at a time when things were looking quite bleak for the club, who were coming off an eight-place finish last season and lost their record goalscorer, Harry Kane.

Not only has the 58-year-old been able to deliver on his promise of an attacking style of play but he has also made the Lilywhites a competitive side, with the club looking on course to return to the Champions League.

It has been suggested over recent months that the Spurs head coach is one of the candidates on Liverpool’s wishlist to replace Klopp at Anfield this summer (The Athletic).

Ange Postecoglou should stay at Tottenham

Ince understands why the Reds would want Postecoglou, given the way the Aussie coach carries himself but expressed scepticism over whether he would leave Tottenham after a year in charge.

When asked about the speculation linking the former Celtic boss with the Liverpool job, the pundit told talkSPORT (6:27 pm, April 8, 2024): “Well, I think if you look at the way he presents himself, I think he could deal with the pressure of managing such a massive club like Liverpool and dealing with the circumstances of replacing Jurgen Klopp, for sure.

“Just the way he carries himself, the way you see him talk in public, he is calm, he doesn’t seem to get too irate too quickly. So, could I see him at Liverpool? Yes.

“Will he leave Tottenham to go there? Not yet. I think he has got a project there, especially if they get the Champions League, why would you leave Tottenham?”

Spurs Web Opinion

While the Postecoglou to Liverpool speculation might carry on until the summer as the story does attract eyeballs, the reality is that there is zero chance of Levy entertaining any approaches from the Reds or any other club for the Australian.
