Beckenham Junction train stabbing: Man fighting for his life

At around 3.56pm on Wednesday (March 27) police received reports that two men were fighting while entering a train at Shortlands railway station. 

A shocking video shared online showed one of the men wielding a huge knife. 

In the video, it seems as though one person is on the floor of the train against the door while the other, with a knife, is stood over him.

The man with the knife can be seen walking backwards and forwards along the width of the carriage.

Passengers sat in the carriage of the train can be heard reporting the incident, asking for police and ambulance crews.

One of the men sustained serious injuries consistent with being stabbed and he was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, British Transport Police (BTP) said. 

Enquiries are ongoing and there have been no arrests so far.

While police deal with the incident, Southern Rail services which usually run from London Bridge to Beckenham Junction will now terminate at Birkbeck. 

It is unclear when the disruption will end, but tickets are valid on alternative services between the two stations.
