M2 Kent police ‘serious crash’ sees person airlifted to hospital

The incident happened between junctions six and five on the London-bound carriageway just before 8.40am today (March 25).

Officers, Kent Fire and Rescue, and South East Coast Ambulance crews attended and found a person injured.

They were taken to hospital for treatment where their condition is currently unknown.

The motorway was closed in both directions as the incident was dealt with by emergency services.

Severe delays remain as traffic is being moved through junctions six to five while junctions seven to five are closed.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police, along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service, were called to a collision on the M2 between junctions 6 and 5 on the London bound carriageway at about 8.39am on Monday, March 25.

“One person has been airlifted to a London hospital. The road is currently closed while emergency services deal with the collision.”

National Highways said on X (formally known as Twitter): “M2 west between J6 Faversham and J5 Sheerness Kent ROAD CLOSED Also east blocked J4 to J5 for air ambulance.

“Due to a serious collision.”
