Bayern Munich face Arsenal in Champions League quarter-finals

The road to the Champions League final for Bayern Munich was revealed on Friday. The Bavarian club was drawn against Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the competition. The winner of this tie will face the winner of the clash between Real Madrid and Manchester City in the semi-final.

The first leg of the quarter-finals between Bayern and Arsenal will be played at the Emirates Stadium in London. The Bayern fans will not be at the Emirates Stadium for the first leg after UEFA sanctioned Bayern. Bayern fans were punished for throwing fireworks onto the pitch during their 3-1 win against Lazio at Allianz Arena.

Bayern and Arsenal have consistently met in the Champions League knockout stages over the last 12 years. The Bavarian club has got the better of Arsenal in previous knockout games, but they will not go into the quarter-finals as favourites due to the incredible form of the North London side.

Those CL ties last 15 years

Arsenal-Bayern: 6th time drawn together since 2012 (with 7-year break!), for 12 games

City-Madrid: 4th time meeting in 5 years, for 8 games

PSG-Barca: 6th time drawn together since 2012, for 12 games

Dortmund-Atletico: 2 group games in 2018-19 😀

Arsenal have become one of the best Premier League clubs in the past couple of years. They are enjoying a terrific run of form in 2024. The North London side is leading the Premier League points table. They have been playing attractive football under Arteta, which will make them a difficult challenge for Die Roten. Arsenal qualified for the quarter-finals by beating Porto on penalties.

Die Roten have struggled against teams that have played quick incisive football this season. Arsenal have been resolute at both ends of the pitch this season. The Bavarian club will have to come up with their best performances of this season to beat the North London side across two legs.

The games against Arsenal will be special for Harry Kane. The former Tottenham Hotspur striker will return to North London for the first leg. He had a terrific scoring record against Arsenal during his time at Spurs. The Bavarian faithful will hope to see Kane extend this good record against Arsenal and fire Die Roten into the semi-final of the Champions League.

Bayern and Tuchel are unlikely to retain the Bundesliga title this season since Bayer Leverkusen are leading the points table by ten points. The Champions League remains the only chance of silverware for Bayern this season. They delivered a quality performance against Lazio last week when they trailed 1-0 in the tie. Tuchel will need a similar level of performance against an in-form Arsenal side to book a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
