A group of pro-Palestine protesters have been filmed shouting a vile slogan as they shut down the city while calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Posted on Twitter/X, the film shows the group shouting “Yemen, Yemen do us proud turn another ship around” as Metropolitan Police officers appear to stare at the people passing by. These protesters form a march featuring tens of thousands of people who are marching through the city this weekend.
The chant is a reference to Houthi rebels who have been attacking British and American ships in the Red Sea in recent months. Earlier this year, they sank the Rubymar which succumbed to the Red Sea after several days of slowly filling with water.
The pro-Palestine march, organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), started at Hyde Park Corner and will finish at the US Embassy in Nine Elms, south west London. There is currently a large Metropolitan Police presence at the scene.
It comes as tensions have risen in the UK capital over the previous weeks, with some areas now being declared “no-go areas” for Jewish residents of the city.
The Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment.
