Travel chaos after passenger train hits tree at south London station | UK | News

Travel chaos has broken out on the overground rail network after a commuter train hit a tree at a south London stop.

The passenger train collided with a fallen tree at West Wickham station in Bromley this evening, prompting emergency services to scramble to the scene.

Frustrated passengers trapped on board have complained after the incident caused another train to come to a halt and late-night diversions.

Regular train services running this evening will stop earlier, with Hayes line trains now set to terminate at Elmers End, with some likely to be diverted to run to and from Orpington.

Southeastern has said it sent firefighters to remove the tree, and people who have bought tickets can use them on local buses travelling between Lewisham and Hayes.
