Clapham attack manhunt – latest: Man arrested ‘for hiding Clapham suspect’ – as manhunt police reveal they have Abdul Ezedi’s mobile phone | UK News

Met Police Commander Jon Savell says officers are pursuing “a number of lines of inquiry” after the arrest of a man today.

As we reported earlier the man, who is 22 and from London, was arrested in the early hours on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Cmdr Savell said the man allegedly helped to hide Abdul Ezedi after the chemical attack last Wednesday.

The Met will take “take action” against anyone harbouring or thinking of assisting Edezi, he said.

On whether further people may have helped the suspect, Cmdr Savell said nothing was being ruled out and this morning’s arrest “could lead to further”.

“Extensive downloads and reviews” of the suspect’s mobile phone, which was recovered from his car, have also thrown up “an awful lot of lines of inquiry” that are being followed, Cmdr Savell said.

Hundreds of hours of CCTV are being trawled and officers are “working quickly” to establish Edezi’s movements after the last sighting in the Southwark Bridge area on Wednesday night.

There have been “hundreds of calls” to police from across the UK and each one is being taken “very seriously”, Cmdr Savell added.

People have been urged to call police with any information “no matter where that may be in the UK”.
