Millwall confirm Neil Harris’ return as head coach – South London News

Millwall have confirmed the return of Neil Harris.

The 46-year-old has been appointed as head coach following the exit earlier today of Joe Edwards.

Harris is Millwall’s all-time leading goalscorer and also led them to promotion as manager in the 2016-2017 season.

The Lions just missed out on a Championship play-off spot in their first campaign at the level, going on a 17-game unbeaten run that was only ended by Fulham, who ended up reaching the Premier League.

Millwall chairman James Berylson said: “Neil knows this club as well as anybody and understands exactly what it takes to be successful here. We are in a difficult moment but he and Dave have jumped at this opportunity and that says a lot about their affection for Millwall and their fierce drive and determination to help improve performances and results.

“I look forward to working closely with Neil and Dave, and continuing to do so with Adam, and promise them all our total support for the weeks and months ahead.”

Harris said: “I want to build that belief and confidence in the players – I want them to see me on the sideline, leading them as a Millwall person.

“I know what it takes to succeed – the passion of the players has to be there and the fans need to see that. My teams have always had that and that won’t change.”

Everyone at the South London Press thanks you for your continued support.

Former Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has encouraged everyone in the country who can afford to do so to buy a newspaper, and told the Downing Street press briefing:

“A free country needs a free press, and the newspapers of our country are under significant financial pressure”.
