London Zoo is inviting children to become zoo vets this half-term at Vets in Action, a role-playing experience for budding veterinarians.
From this coming Saturday until Sunday, February 18, kids will be able to truly step into the role of a vet at London Zoo, with a series of interactive family events celebrating their incredible work.
After arriving for work at the Zoo’s specially-recreated animal hospital, junior vets will be prepped with gloves and masks before helping the experts.

The youngsters will examine, diagnose and carry out treatments on soft toys, experiencing first-hand the huge variety of work carried out by the zoo’s vets, vet nurses, wildlife health team and zookeepers – from microchipping crocodiles to caring for a wounded lion.
Additional activities throughout the week will shed further insight into the zoo’s conservation efforts, from uncovering the secrets of animal anatomy at the X Marks the Spot – X-Ray trail, to learning how dedicated professionals contribute to wildlife preservation at the Conservation Station.
Once their shift is over, mini-vets and their families can spend the rest of the day being inspired by the wonders of nature at the 36-acre zoo – home to more than 300 species, many of which are threatened in the wild and part of important global breeding programmes.
