Millwall striker Kevin Nisbet suffers ‘fairly significant’ hamstring injury – South London News

Millwall striker Kevin Nisbet is set to be sidelined for a sustained period due to a hamstring injury.

The Scottish striker, a summer signing from Hibernian, did not feature in today’s 1-0 defeat at Hull City.

Michael Obafemi, on loan from Burnley, started the Championship match and made way for Tom Bradshaw, returning from a hamstring injury, at the start of the second half.

“Nizzy has got a hamstring injury and it looks a fairly significant one,” Edwards told Millwall TV. “He’s going to see a specialist next week to get the full extent of the damage and exactly how long he will be out.

“He’s definitely out for the forseeable.

“It was important we had Bradders back in and around it.

“It was good for Michael to get a first start. It was definitely a test for him to be starting a game so soon, he’s had a long lay-off without regular football. It was clear we didn’t see the best of him as his most sharp.

“We had pre-planned it like that – that Michael would play the first half and Bradders the second half. They were both in that position where they were ready to play and ready to play more than 15-20 minutes – we didn’t want to push either too far because the minute fatigue creeps in the risk of re-injury occurs.

“It’s good Michael got that under his belt, hopefully he can build on that. We saw the best of Bradders – he offered a lot of energy and intent to run in behind.”
