The mayor of Haringey has launched the inaugural ‘Haringey heroes’ awards, for those who go “above and beyond” for the community.

As part of the awards, Haringey residents nominate peers who they feel are deserving of recognition for the work they put into the community.

Residents have until 23rd February to make their nominations.

Mayor of Haringey Lester Buxton said: “I know that these are difficult times for many people here in Haringey. While residents are struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis, our communities have also been profoundly impacted by conflicts around the world, as well as the ongoing climate emergency.

“Despite these huge challenges, our communities continue to demonstrate immense resilience, thanks in no small part to those who go above and beyond, working tirelessly to support their fellow residents and make a difference for Haringey.

“As mayor, I want to shine a light on these people and express our deepest gratitude. That’s why I am calling on you, Haringey residents, to nominate someone for the Haringey Heroes Awards – someone who championed a community project, went the extra mile at work, or simply brightened your life with their kindness.

“Let’s celebrate the everyday heroes who make Haringey truly remarkable.”
