A delegation from Ealing Council led by the council’s Cabinet Member for Decent Living Incomes, Councillor Louise Brett has visited Ealing’s University of West London to find out more about its work in supporting entrepreneurs and ways the University is supporting innovation in food science and aviation.
Joining Councillor Brett was strategic director of economy and sustainability Peter George, assistant director of economic growth, Conor McDonagh, adult learning manager Cristi Gonzalez and employment and apprenticeship manager, Naseem Kauser.
Pro vice-chancellor (business development), Dr Suresh Gamlath from UWL’s Westmont Hub team gave a presentation on its work while the Dean of London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism (LGCHT) and associate pro vice-chancellor, James Edmunds spoke about food innovation, upcycling and aviation.
UWL’s head of knowledge exchange and business engagement, John Charlton spoke of the work they do in research and its facilities.
Dr Gamlath said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Councillor Brett and her delegation to UWL and to discuss the strategic role of the University in supporting sustainability, community and business in Ealing and West London through enterprise, education, and innovation.”
Councillor Brett said: “It was great to meet with the team at UWL and hear about some of the great work that the University is doing to support the council in its goals to fight inequality, create good jobs, and tackle the climate crisis. I look forward to the year ahead as we explore further opportunities for close partnership working between the council and UWL to continue to grow and support the thriving small business community in our borough.”
