- Footage shows the moment armed officers fired a bullet at the hound in Ealing
Armed police have shot an ‘out of control’ dog on a west London street in broad daylight today just moments after the mutt killed another hound.
Video footage emerged on X, formerly Twitter, that shows a firearms officer pointing their gun at a dark-haired canine as it drags another dog locked in its jaws along the pavement.
A cracking noise is heard and a puff of smoke flies into the air as the officer fires a bullet at the dog.
People can be heard screaming in the background as two officers then chase after the hound down Queens Avenue, in Greenford, Ealing.
A woman’s voice can be heard saying: ‘They’ve just shot the dog. Oh my god. S**t.’

The Metropolitan Police confirmed in a statement the dog has since been destroyed to ‘prevent it from causing further serious harm’.
The force did not give details of the breed of dog and said: ‘We were called at 10.39am on 14 January to a report of a dog out of control having killed another dog in Queens Ave, Greenford.
‘Officers attended and took the decision to destroy the dog at the scene in order to prevent it from causing further serious harm.
‘We know that this will have been upsetting for those present.’
The 15-second clip has been viewed nearly 15,000 times on the social media platform.
It comes almost a year since Met Police officers shot dead two ‘dangerously out of control’ dogs that had reportedly attacked a woman.
Videos posted on social media by horrified witnesses in May last year showed a group of police officers following a man with two barking dogs on short leads along a canal in Limehouse, east London.
Officers were seen in a heated row with the man as he continued to hold on to his dogs and attempt to calm them down.
The situation quickly escalated with one of the black dogs being shot dead, while the screaming owner was then tasered and pinned to the ground.
The second dog was subsequently shot dead as screaming witnesses looked down at the scene from balconies of surrounding flat blocks.

The London police force defended its actions explaining that the officers had ‘a duty to act where necessary before any further injury was caused’.
The Met said at the time they were forced to act swiftly because ‘the aggressive behaviour of two dogs was of considerable concern’.
Officers had been called to the scene following reports of a woman being attacked by the dog on Commercial Road in Tower Hamlets.
The dogs were said to be ‘of considerable concern’ and posed a ‘significant threat to’ officers who attended the scene.
No one was taken to hospital as a result of the attack, but a man was arrested in connection with having a dangerously out of control dog.
