Middle East crisis – latest: Biden delivers message to Iran about Houthi attacks; tens of thousands at London march amid heavy police presence | World News

In the last few moments, Israel’s prime minister started delivering a televised speech.

Benjamin Netanyahu began by addressing the case currently going through the International Court of Justice, which alleges Israel has committed state-led genocide in Gaza.

He said his country will not be deterred by the lawsuit lodged by South Africa.

“No one will stop us – not The Hague, not the Axis of Evil,
no one,” he said.

Lawyers representing the country began their response to the genocide case yesterday, after South Africa outlined its arguments on Thursday.

South Africa has asked judges presiding over the hearing to impose emergency measures, ordering Israel to immediately halt the offensive.

Still unclear if Israel will take over Gaza-Egypt border zone

He has also spoken about the situation along the Gaza-Egypt border.

He said that a decision had yet to
be made about a potential military takeover of the “Philadelphi
Corridor” along the border.

The Philadelphi Corridor is the 14km (8.7mile) long strip of land that represents the entirety of the border area between Gaza and Egypt.

Established as a buffer zone as part of the 1979 peace treaty, it is controlled and patrolled by Israeli forces.

Telling reporters that sealing off the zone to isolate Hamas
was an aim of the Gaza war, Mr Netanyahu said: “There are a number
of options.

“We have
looked into these and have yet to make a decision,” he added.
