The incident happened in Broadway just after 6.20pm today (January 9).
Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a boy injured.
He was taken to hospital for further treatment where his condition is currently unknown.
His family have been informed.
Police enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 18:21hrs on Tuesday, 9 January to reports of a stabbing in Broadway Square, Bexleyheath.
“Officers arrived at the scene within three minutes and provide first aid to a 16-year-old boy with a stab injury. His family has been informed.
“He was taken to hospital where his condition is being assessed.
“An investigation is under way and enquiries are ongoing. Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 5435/09Jan.”
