It’s been a hugely successful year of fundraising for Heart of West London.
The partnership began in 2022 with the goal of using the power of sport and our collective voice to change the game for cardiac health.
At the time of the launch, cardiac health was the cause of 160,000 deaths in the UK every year.
The Heart of West London partnership brings together the club and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust with key players in the cardiac health world: Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young, Resuscitation Council UK and A-K-A Day.
The campaign has various goals, one of which includes fundraising to support ground-breaking research being conducted by Dr Saniha Gati at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity to help mitigate sudden cardiac death in young and sportspeople.
This year, Brentford fans stepped up to raise funds for these life-changing initiatives.
28 Bees fans participated in various races to raise money for Heart of West London. Their outstanding efforts have raised over £20,000 in 2023, bringing the fundraising total for the partnership to over £45,000 of our £100,000 target. Brentford FC has committed to matching up to £100,000 raised.

Club staff pitched in too, donating a portion of funds raised during Movember this year to Heart of West London. Our Movember team raised an outstanding £1,335 for Movember causes, with the club contributing an additional £1,000 to the pot, in line with our charity policy, which went to Heart of West London.
Other Heart of West London fundraising success
In May, we hosted Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad at Gtech Community Stadium for the inaugural Robert Rowan Invitational against our Brentford B team.
The event remembers former club technical director Robert Rowan, who passed away aged 28 from a fatal cardiomyopathy episode in 2018.
3,500 spectators attended the match, which resulted in a dramatic 3-2 win for Brentford B, raising over £16,000 for Heart of West London.
Funds were also raised through the sale of Heart of West London t-shirts, worn by the first team before their fixture against Chelsea on 19 October 2022.
These limited-edition shirts, which featured a scannable QR code explaining how to perform CPR, were auctioned after the match and a percentage of sales from matchday programmes was also donated.
