Woman charged with manslaughter following the deaths of four children in 2021 fire

A woman has been charged with four counts of manslaughter following the death of four children in a fire two years ago in Collingwood Road, Sutton.

The charges have been made against Deveca Rose, 29, after two sets of twins – Leyton and Logan Hoath, aged three, and Kyson and Bryson Hoath, aged four – were killed in the blaze on December 16, 2021.

Ms Rose was charged last month with four counts of manslaughter, contrary to common law and child abandonment, contrary to the Children and Young Persons Act 1933. She is set to appear at Croydon magistrates’ court on Monday.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers understand the significant impact on the local community following this devastating incident, and they would like to reassure people that this extremely complex investigation continues, supported by partner agencies including the Crown Prosecution Service and London Fire Brigade.

“It is imperative that no material or comments are published or shared online that could prejudice future court proceedings.”
