Just Stop Oil have brought chaos to the streets of the capital yet again after halting traffic in East London with the third slow march to plague motorists this week.

A dozen activists marched on Cambridge Heath Road at around 4pm, bringing traffic to a halt – and prompting a furious cabbie to flash activists the middle finger as he yells as them: ‘You’re all being manipulated.’

Images show the activists walking in the middle of the street as cars try to drive around them, pulling onto the other side of the road to get past.

Just Stop Oil claims its activists were then ‘kettled’ by the Metropolitan Police shortly after 4.30pm, with all 12 arrested for allegedly breaching Section 7 of the Public Order Act 2023 and other arrested, it says, leafleting.

It’s the third march to hit the capital this week as the campaign group – infamous for its publicity stunts at major sporting events –  ramps up its ‘three weeks of action’ in London, in which it has vowed to ‘slow (the city)…on an unprecedented scale’.

In a statement shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Met Police said: ‘We have arrested a further 13 Just Stop Oil protestors today.

‘At 16:08hrs the group entered Cambridge Heath Road in Bethnal Green. Officers made arrested under Section 7 of the Public Order Act 2023 and re-opened the road a short time later’.

The force added that it had arrested a total of 112 people in connection with Just Stp Oil protests this week.

It concluded: ‘The Met fully supports the right to lawful protest, however we will take action when this results in serious disruption to Londoners.’

It comes amid pro-Palestine rallies set to dominate the UK this weekend, as well as sporting fixtures and dozens of other events scheduled for Bonfire Night.

Just Stop Oil has also vowed to march in Trafalgar Square on November 20. The group said today: ‘Together we can be the real opposition this country needs and we will win. We will stop new oil and gas.’

Stunts by Just Stop Oil have already cost the taxpayer an estimated £40million, new analysis released today reveals.

Dozens of people have been charged amid a ramping-up in action by JSO this week and dozens have since been charged.

Analysis now shows how much the group has estimated to have cost the hard-up taxpayer since they formed in February last year.

Policing JSO’s stunts and marches has cost at least £20million alone, including around £15 million for The Metropolitan Police alone as part of that in the last two years.

That includes patrolling the streets during protests and making arrests and dealing with activists once they are in custody.
