Charlton defender injury concern for Wigan clash – South London News

Charlton Athletic boss Micahel Appleton has confirmed that defender Terell Thomas is an injury doubt for tomorrow’s League One clash at Wigan.

Former Wimbledon defender Thomas was forced off in the 65th minute during the 2-0 defeat at home to Bolton on Saturday, with academy graduate Nathan Asiimwe coming on.

Thomas has made 14 appearances this season for the South Londoners and started seven of the last nine outings under the former Blackpool boss.

“In terms of concerns the only one I think we have from Saturday is Terell,” said Appleton.

“He took a knock in the first half and we felt he was flagging a little bit in the second half, which is why we made the change as we did, because we were on top at that time.

“I believe he got another knock to the same area – so he had almost a double dead leg.

“Today is going to be a big day for him to see if he is able to turn it around before tomorrow.

“Apart from Terell, everyone has come through the weekend okay.

“We’re looking forward to tomorrow to try and get back to winning ways.”

The Addicks have suffered back-to-back defeats under the former Blackpool boss and head to 19th-placed Wigan Athletic tomorrow.

“It will be a good test,” added the head coach.

“Shaun [Maloney] has definitely changed it around a bit in terms of the style – there are a lot more passes in the team. They do look to switch the play and pass the ball from side to side a lot more than what they did previously.

“They’re in good form.”
