Vehicle chase leads to two arrests in South London

A man and woman are now facing charges after police recovered a reported stolen vehicle in the south end of the city over the weekend.

At approximately 5 a.m., on October 21, 2023, a London police officer observed a man operating a reported stolen vehicle in the 800-block of Exeter Road. When the officer pulled the police cruiser directly behind the suspect vehicle to prevent it from moving, the driver attempted to flee from police, driving forward and striking a nearby vehicle and building.

Additional officers attended the area, and when police approached the vehicle and instructed the driver to turn the engine off, he refused to comply.

The driver and female passenger were arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Cody Perry, 31, of London, and Stacey Lynn Townsend, 38, of Courtland, have been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance;
  • Operation while prohibited; and
  • Fail to stop for police/pursuit.

Cody Perry is expected to appear in London court today, while Stacey Townsend is expected to appear on October 24, 2023, in relation to the charges.
