Heavyweight support for London Borough of Culture bid

Frank Bruno with Kemi Akinola

Former heavyweight champion Frank Bruno was at Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth Town Centre to sign copies of his new autobiography Frank Bruno: 60 Years a Fighter.

Frank said: “Wandsworth has a special place in my heart and it’s always great to revisit this borough where I grew up. As a South London lad I’ll definitely back Wandsworth to be London Borough of Culture in 2025.”

Thousands of local people have supported Wandsworth’s bid to become London Borough of Culture 2025, including Children’s Poet Laureate Joseph Coelho. Families and young people have shared their creative ideas and the council has been listening to local businesses, arts organisations, community partners and voluntary groups on what would make a successful year of culture right across the borough.

The borough’s bid will be sent to the Mayor of London at the end of November. Find out more about Wandsworth’s bid for London Borough of Culture

Leader of Wandsworth Council Simon Hogg said: “It‘s great to have Frank Bruno’s support for our London Borough of Culture bid – one of the UK’s greatest sporting legends. We want everyone in Wandsworth to back our bid, so please find out more and pledge your support.”

Pledge your support.
