London’s Last 6pm Sunset Of The Year Is Happening Next Week

Regardless of the mild identity crisis that the seasons have undergone this year, winter is well-and-truly on its way to the capital city. London is soon to be aglow with cosy, festive, sparkly goodness, but with that comes the dreaded darkness. Yep, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the time has comes for the very last 6pm sunset of 2023. Dun dun dunnn.

That’s right, according to data from Time and Date, the sun will go down at 6.01pm on October 18, before calling it a night at the – quite frankly – horrifying time of 5.59pm the following evening. Of course, days won’t be quite as short as they will be after the clocks go back the following week (October 29), but we’ll cross that (rather gloomy) bridge when we come to it, hey?

The next 6pm sunset in London won’t be until we sacrifice an hour’s kip for longer days at the end of March 2024 (?!), so make sure you savour this last week of leaving the office while it’s still light outside.

On a slightly brighter note, we have so much to look forward to in the capital over the next few months. Christmas lights, ice rinks, roast dinners, the list goes on… So whack on your cosiest jumper and step in to Christmas autumn/winter.

Hello darkness, my old friend…
