LONDON SENIOR CUP | Wings head to New Salamis on Monday, October 2nd – Welling United

Welling United will begin their London Senior Cup campaign with a first-round clash at New Salamis on Monday, October 2nd (7.45pm).

The Wings will head to Coles Park, home of the Isthmian League North Division side where they groundhsare with Haringey Borough, with the winners set to take on either Cockfosters or Charlton Athletic U21s in the second round.

New Salamis are a side based in Bowes Park in north London and were formed in 1971 by fans of Cypriot club Nea Salamis Famagusta, with the Cyprus-based club acting as a parent club.

Last season saw the Wings reach the second round of the competition, beating Cray Valley (PM) in the first round to set up a clash with Charlton Athletic’s U21s at Park View Road in April which saw a youthful Wings side run the Addicks close, forcing a 1-1 draw and a penalty shootout, ultimately losing out 4-2 on spot-kicks.

Supporters should note that the date of the tie is subject to change should Welling’s Emirates FA Cup tie with Gosport Borough on Saturday finishes in a draw. In the event of a replay being forced, it will take place at the J Hearnden Skip Hire Community Stadium on Tuesday, October 3rd, which will see the London Senior Cup date rearranged.
