Man Utd could have completely new line-up for Arsenal with three deadline-day signings | Football | Sport

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag could field a new-look side when he takes his team to Arsenal on Sunday. The Red Devils could make three late signings in the transfer window to strengthen their squad. Express Sport looks at how United could line up once they finalise their summer business.

Goalkeeper – Onana

United are set to sign Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir this week. However, he will only come in as back-up for Andre Onana.

Onana drew some criticism for his role in Nottingham Forest’s opener at the weekend. But the Cameroonian star has transformed how United can play out from the back and will prove to be a top acquisition.

Defence – Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Martinez, Cucurella

The defence sees two new late arrivals. Ten Hag is desperate to add a left-back to his squad and Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella is among the top targets.

Cucurella has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and could be allowed to leave on loan. Meanwhile, if United sign a centre-back then there is a good chance it will be Jean-Clair Todibo.

Last week it was claimed that a move for the Frenchman is close and Raphael Varane has since suffered an injury to further stress the need for a new recruit. Todibo could come straight in for Varane at the Emirates and take up a spot between right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Lisandro Martinez.

Midfield – Casemiro, Hojbjerg, Fernandes

Tottenham star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has emerged as a late target. The Denmark star has fallen out of favour since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou at Spurs.

Talk over a deal for Sofyan Amrabat appears to have gone quiet, so Hojbjerg could now be brought in. A more defensive approach may be needed in north London, so Hojbjerg could debut alongside Casemiro.

Bruno Fernandes went a long way to proving his doubters wrong on Saturday. He played a starring role as United came back from two goals down to win.

Attack – Antony, Martial, Rashford

Rasmus Hojlund is set to be back in full training this week after recovering from his back injury. However, he is unlikely to be thrown in from the start.

Marcus Rashford was so much more effective off the left on Saturday rather than playing through the middle. That could mean Anthony Martial keeps his spot centrally before being replaced by Hojlund at some point in the second half.

Antony is still looking for his first goal contribution of the campaign. He has fond memories of playing Arsenal having scored on his United debut against the Gunners, albeit at Old Trafford.
