Police officers have revealed that a baby found dead in an east London home was a newborn girl – as a man and a woman are arrested on suspicion of murdering her.
Met Police were called to a property on Mimosa Close in Havering, on Tuesday where houses cost up to £475,000, following reports over concerns of the baby’s welfare.
Upon attending the property, officer’s discovered the infants body.
The death is being treated as unexplained, with a post-mortem examination being prioritised to find out what happened to the baby and how long her body had been there.
The man and women remain arrested in connection with the incident both remain in custody wile investigations continue.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford, from the Met’s Public Protection team covering Havering, said: ‘This is a tragic incident and we understand it will be hugely upsetting for local people.
‘Our officers are still at the scene and we thank residents for their patience while we carry out our critical enquiries.
‘At this time, the baby’s death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will take place at the earliest opportunity to help us determine what may have happened and to confirm how long the baby’s body had been there.
‘A man and a woman arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident remain in custody.’
The force said it is treating the death as ‘unexpected and under investigation’, while enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

Havering is a suburban borough in outer London, which borders the town of Brentwood in Essex, which was made famous as the setting for the reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex.
The Met Police said in earlier statement: ‘At approximately 19:40hrs on Tuesday, 22 August police were called to an address in Mimosa Close, Havering following reports for concerns of the welfare of a baby.
‘Officers attended. The body of a baby was located. At this time the death is being treated as unexpected and under investigation.
‘A scene remains in place at the address. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.
‘A man and a woman have been arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder in connection with this incident; both remain in custody.’
