A lorry on its side after it hit a rail bridge outside Fairlop station (Paul Wood)
People have been told to avoid the area around Fairlop tube station after a lorry hit a rail bridge and overturned on the road.
Redbridge council said Forest Road was “closed indefinitely” either side of the station, which is in east London on the Central Line, and advised people to “please avoid the area”.
London Fire Brigade and officers from Redbridge police were on the scene after the accident at 9.10am on Friday and a spokesman for the force said “thankfully there are no reports of injuries”, adding that “the road will remain closed whilst we arrange for the lorry to be recovered”.
A detour is also in operation for bus route 462 but a spokesman for Tfl said it had not affected the Central Line which was operating a good service.
